Reading while commuting...

If you’re like me who loves to read and be inspired, I suggest ypu make good use pf your commute, to read a good book. I’m thankful that the Dubai Metro is very well made that I don’t get off balance when standing from Burjuman metro station, all the way to Noor Bank metro station. I use the 20-minute travel to read e-books on my smartphone. the latest book I read is Steven Pressfield’s the War of Art. All the successful people I know loves to read. So if you want to become successful, learn to love reading. Make use of your commute time productively. If you drive, listen to an ebook while driving. Read a good book today. You’ll never regret it. 1 year in Carrefour Webstore...

I’m congratulating myself for completing 1 year working in the Carrefour Webstore as a call center and after sales agent. I’ll be completing my 2 years in Carrefour/Innovations on Mar 18, 2014. I’m the only one left in my batch so kudos to me. Hahaha I was actually offered a full time position with MAF Carrefour but I declined because Call Center and Customer Service is not my cup of tea. I’m very good at it, but I don’t enjoy it. I’m very professional and did the work everyday. But I’m not in my element. I’m a fish out of sea. I can’t wait to practice my skills in WordPress or eLearning Development again. I’m just enjoying and bidding my time. I will practice my core skills again within the next 3 months. I’m making this bold declaration to honor my higher self, to do the work I’m supposed to do. To do the work I was born to do. Share this:ShareFacebookLinkedInTwitterTumblrEmailLike this:Like...

IDD Therapy Completed...

I completed the 20th IDD therapy session last Feb 1, 2014. I have to be honest, when the onset of my disc prolapse hit me. I thought the pain would be permanent and I would be disabled for life. Boy, was I wrong! The human body is amazing. I can still feel some numbness on my left leg but I can sit down for a long time (though I make it a point to stand up after every 30 minutes because sitting down for long is not good for the body.) I’m still doing my lower back exercises and I’m still eating less to reduce the stress on my lower back. I’m very thankful that I’m ok now. That I can walk and sit and not feel disabled. I know that the pain can easily go back if I don’t watch out and take better care of my health. Overeating and not exercising are a NO-NO. The pain which I felt was so strong that any person who felt it, would want to die or faint from it. I’m happy to be well, and grateful to my wife who supported me all throughout the ordeal. I thank the doctor, nurses, and physiotherapists at American Spine Center in Dubai Healthcare City who treated me. I highly recommend anyone who has a chronic back pain, slip disc, sciatica, disc prolapse, or disc bulge to research, read up on, and try the IDD therapy. Even before considering surgery, like what my Neurologist suggested. I can go to work now, stand up for an hour, sit down for an hour, without feeling this shooting pain on my butt and my leg. I feel great and intend to feel this way. Share this:ShareFacebookLinkedInTwitterTumblrEmailLike this:Like...

LG G2 Oct01

LG G2

I planned on getting the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 for my first android device but since it didn’t come with the samsung Galaxy Gear, as originally advertised, I found the LG G2 displayed in the stores and ended up buying one. Wow! What a catch for AED600 less than the Note 3. Sporting almost the same processor speed and battery capacity, this sweet device is amazing. Part of 700,000,000 Sep19

Part of 700,000,000

I think I read somewhere that Apple CEO Tim Cook announced last week that there will be 700,000,000 iOS users by the end of the year. Don’t quote me on that but I’ll definitely be one of the 700,000,000. But I’ll be a KitKat user too when it comes out. 😀 Share this:ShareFacebookLinkedInTwitterTumblrEmailLike this:Like...

Human iOS App

I just installed the Human iOS App. It tracks your daily physical activity and will plot and inform you, as soon as you’ve been physically active for 30 mins. We live in a very hectic world and oftentimes cannot find the time to exercise. This App can give us some peace of mind, as it tracks our daily activities. Knowing that we’ve walked a certain no. of minutes in a day, can make us feel better about our bodies and our health. Share this:ShareFacebookLinkedInTwitterTumblrEmailLike this:Like...

iPhone 5s and 5c? Sep09

iPhone 5s and 5c?

I’m excited about Apple’s announcement of the new iPhone on Tuesday, Sep 10. I was hoping it will be the iPhone 6, but it seems that it will be iPhone 5s, making it predictable since the iPhone 3Gs. I do hope that they add additional features, hardware and software-wise to at least compete with Samsung’s Galaxy S4. There’s also a rumored budget-friendly version of the iPhone touted as the iPhone 5c which will appeal to students and the market in general. On the Android front, Samsung is scheduled to begin selling the Galaxy Note 3, running the latest version of Android (Android 4.4 Kitkat) and the Samsung Galaxy Gear, the smartphone watch which is compatible with the Note 3, beginning next month. Wow! Exciting weeks ahead for tech junkies! Share this:ShareFacebookLinkedInTwitterTumblrEmailLike this:Like...

iTunes Festival 2013 App...

This awesome iOS App will allow you to watch or listen to performances from the 2013 iTunes Festival in London for free. Lady Gaga performed on the first day of the 30-day music festival on Sep 1. The last performer will be Katy Perry on Sep 30. I’m not familiar with half or maybe 2/3 of the bands or artists in the lineup but am looking forward to listening to some of them. Who knows, I just might become a fan. In the meantime, I’m looking forward to the performances of the following: Jack Johnson 30 Seconds to Mars Kendrick Lamar John Legend Kings of Leon Justin Timberlake and Katy Perry. Shazam App Sep02

Shazam App

I just installed and tested the Shazam iOS App. It’s pretty impressive. I asked my flatmates to choose a song on their playlist and the App was able to recognize the songs they played. My doubts were erased when my flatmate played a Gospel music track. I thought Shazam could only recognize pop music but it recognized the track she played. Pretty awesome. At times it took just one try for the app to recognize the music. But not all the time. Sometimes it took two to four tries for the app to recognize the song. Even my DJ flatmate was amazed and said that’s a great App to use in the Clubs. The App recognized all the 3 tracks he played. He did not even know the Artist from one of the tracks so he was pretty impressed it even showed the artist name and the album cover. Neat, huh? Deferred Gratification...

I’ve decided to defer purchasing a smartphone for next year. The Samsung Galaxy S3’s price reduced by AED1k in less than a year. So I’m hoping the same thing will happen to the S4. Even if they launch an S5, the S4 will still be an awesome monster of a smartphone. Right now, the most important thing for me is to get back on track to saving and reaching my target savings at the end of March next year. Willpower and always remembering the end goal are tools which will help me reach my target. Share this:ShareFacebookLinkedInTwitterTumblrEmailLike this:Like...

WordPress App for the iOS...

The WordPress iOS app is a must for WordPress enthusiasts or bloggers. Why? Simply because it allows you to post while on the go, using your iPhone, iPad, or iPod. For me, my gadget of choice is the iPod. I don’t have an iPhone and an iPad’s too big to bring to the office. If I want to check my site’s stats and visitors using the Jetpack Stats module, I need only to connect to a wifi hotspot and launch the WordPress app and voila. Power at my fingertips! Blogging has never been this easy and this fun! — Note: For Android users, there’s a WordPress App on the Google Playstore. Share this:ShareFacebookLinkedInTwitterTumblrEmailLike this:Like...

Learn something new

The secret to fighting boredom in the workplace or in your personal life is to always try out something new – a new sport, a new exercise regimen, a new game, or even a new programming language. Some people can do the same thing for years without ever feeling bored. But if you’re like me, you easily get bored and the only way to fight this boredom is to try some things differently. Thanks to technology and the Internet, now it’s very easy to find and try out something new. It could be as simple as visiting a new park, or installing a new plugin for your website. The point is when we’re doing something different, we’re engaging life a little bit more. We also learn something new about life, about the outside world, and about ourselves. Never stop wondering. Never stop discovering. And never stop learning. Share this:ShareFacebookLinkedInTwitterTumblrEmailLike this:Like...

Balance

The secret to life is balance. So, you should never stop playing no matter your age. Weather sports, card games, video games, or playing with your kids or nephews, you should find time to do these things to make you at present and in the moment. Playing makes you focus in the moment, engaging your senses and your mind. Always take time to play, especially with the most important people in your life. Samsung Galaxy S4 Active Aug17

Samsung Galaxy S4 Active...

Me and my wife bought her a Samsung Galaxy S4 Active last night. The processor is 1.9Mhz, similar to the Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE, the network is also LTE, the camera MP resolution is only 8MP but it’s water-proof and dust-proof. I like it! It will be her first official Android device. We’ve both been an iOS user for the past 2-3 years but considering the specs of this monster of a smartphone, and the sensors built-in to the device, I find myself wanting to buy one for myself as well. Did I mention about the price? The Samsung Galaxy S4 Active is AED200 cheaper than the Samsung Galaxy S4, and AED400 cheaper than the Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE. In addition, the device is not locked to Etisalat so my wife can use it when we visit other countries or come back home to the Philippines. So the question now is, should I indulge or should I wait for the new iPhone to come out. And should Apple launch an iPad mini with Retina display, I’m definitely interested in getting one for myself. Hmmm…     Share this:ShareFacebookLinkedInTwitterTumblrEmailLike this:Like...

eLearning in Dubai? Aug15

eLearning in Dubai?

Just thinking out loud and wondering why there are hardly any opportunities for elearning in Dubai. Hmmm…or maybe I’m looking in the wrong places. Instead of looking for opportunities, why not create those opportunities? Easier said than done. Well, I’m not about to disregard my more than 10 years working in the eLearning industry. The only constant thing is change. Is it time to reinvent myself and develop new skills? Maybe…should I adapt to the culture ang go for jobs that are in demand here? Or should I just stick and continue to enhance my skills and hope that these skills will be in demand soon? This is the question I’ve been dealing with for the past two years. In the meantime, I’m just trying to enjoy every moment in Dubai with my wife. I do hope I land a job in Elearning and/or WordPress development after this in-between-jobs I’m currently in. My former boss, whom I somewhat consider a mentor, due to the fact that I’ve learned so much from him in a short amount of time, told me before coming here to never give up. I’m glad for these words for they serve as a beacon of hope. What does the future have in store for me? Will I still be in Dubai after March next year? I have no clue. But with my wife beside me and my eagerness to learn new things, I’m excited for the future. Share this:ShareFacebookLinkedInTwitterTumblrEmailLike this:Like...

Doing what you love Aug14

Doing what you love

“Do what you love and the money will follow.” OR “Do what you love and you never need to work a single day.” For most of us, this is the elusive dream. But for some who do, their lives couldn’t be any better. Is it doable? Yes. Is it possible? Yes. How? Only you would know. When? The time to act is now. In your quest to find your dream job, make sure to build your dream from the ground up. Maybe it’s too late to get a Bachelor’s degree or take a new couse, or maybe your finances and responsibilities will not allow it. But it’s never too late to learn new skills. Just browse the Internet and you’ll be amazed at how many resources are available out there for you to dive into, for FREE. There may be some courses which are offered for a price, but if it’s worth it, then invest. Your parents took a chance at you when they sent you to school. Before you even had a concept of Self, other people already believed in you. So never hesitate to invest in yourself. Invest in your dreams. There is no easy way to find your “proverbial” dream job. But taking small steps will increase your chances from taking your “pipe dreams” and converting them into reality. Share this:ShareFacebookLinkedInTwitterTumblrEmailLike this:Like...

Adobe Captivate Aug12

Adobe Captivate

Adobe Captivate is more than a desktop recording software. You can build so many apps or modules with this powerful software. The text-to-speech feature is still robotic. Jetpack

I never realized how many features the Jetpack plugin has until I installed it. I do hope that with all the different plugins and WP themes out there, WordPress will continue to be an app for the people. I guess it’s important to keep things simple in order to make it useful. I guess the number and variety of features are so varied and plentiful that it’s easy to get lost and to be overwhelmed. Write everyday

Write everyday. Now that you’ve started a blog. The important thing is to write something everyday. Also, the important thing to keep in mind is that nothing is perfect. Don’t sweat it. Before I began this blog and settled for the theme I used from my previous blog, I had a very difficult time selecting a theme to the point that I was paralyzed and couldn’t start. Repeat. Nothing is perfect. Begin something, then revise later. I’m glad I did. Sit down everyday, write something, anything, and publish. Or you can save it as a draft first. But the only way to keep at it is to do it everyday. Want to form the habit of writing? Begin by writing a word, then write a sentence. Before you know it, you have a paragraph. And before you know it, you have an essay. Again, fear and doubt is a crippling factor – will anyone read this? Will anyone care? What would my parents think? What would my lover think? What would my friends think? Who cares? Write for yourself. Express yourself. Each one of us has a gift to share to the world. Let our souls speak for us through our writing. Express yourself. You’ll be glad you did. Share this:ShareFacebookLinkedInTwitterTumblrEmailLike this:Like...

A blog post a day keeps the doctors away Aug09

A blog post a day keeps the doctors away...

Blogging is therapeutic. It’s therapeutic because in blogging, we force ourselves to write. We force ourselves to be creative. It’s one thing for other people to force you, but when you force yourself to sit down everyday and tap those keys, something magical happens. We get a glimpse of our soul. It’s good to blog for an audience, but what’s most important is to blog for yourself. Blogging is like meditation or yoga. The more you do it. The more you’ll love it. Some people blog to earn money. It’s a very practical goal and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. But even the best bloggers may burnout when they’re constantly writing for others and not for themselves. So blog away my friends. Blog for the fun of it. Be creative. You can do it. Don’t pay attention to your doubters and don’t pay attention to your no. 1 critic – yourself. Don’t take yourself too seriously and blog away. Share this:ShareFacebookLinkedInTwitterTumblrEmailLike this:Like...

Education for All Aug08

Education for All

I believe that eLearning will greatly solve the lack of education. eLearning makes it possible to deliver courses or any sort of lesson or training to remote centers. Plus, it greatly reduces the cost of travel, manpower, and resources because the contect can be reused, over and over again. I love eLearning. I hope to be able to use my skills to help mankind. To help in my own little way to provide cheap but quality education to the children. I’m only 36 years old. It’s never too late to dream. I hope this dream will come to fruition. Well…I decided to subscribe to a hosting service again and here’s my blog. I hope to use this so I would never forget my WordPress development skills, and that I would further enhance it. This is me doing the work. This is me humbly begging my muse and spirit guides to help me stick to it ’til my last day on earth. =P Enjoy Share this:ShareFacebookLinkedInTwitterTumblrEmailLike this:Like...
